In 1957 Sheaffer introduced new colours to the snorkel line, including sage green found here on this Sheaffer Admiral (no white dot, open gold nib, and plastic cap). This significantly narrows down the potential production date to between 1957 and 1959.
The Snorkel filling system was an introduction by Sheaffer in 1952 and ran until 1959. The system was an upgrade of the pneumatic Touchdown system with the added feature that unscrewing the blindcap extends a slim snorkel from the feed allowing the user to fill the pen without submerging the nib. This system provides cleaner filling and ease of use.
